BINDERY SHIFT TEAM LEADER

A vacancy has arisen for a Bindery Team Leader to work on the Day shift.
The shift pattern consists of 3x12hrs for 3 weeks & 4x12hrs for one week.
The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate and promote a leadership style which ensures improved productivity & motivate the team to achieve clearly defined work standards. You must also have a proven ability to problem solve using technical knowledge and experience to carry out the below responsibilities.

Skills Required:
A good understanding/knowledge of all processes involved throughout the Finishing Dept.
Good Operational knowledge of the following machinery:
Muller Stitching lines, Perfect Binding, guillotine & MBO/Stahl Buckle folders.
Good communicator and People skills,
Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

Responsibilities:
Management of staff
Ensure the work scheduled is achieved within the planned timescales and where possible any improvements on performance are achieved.
Liaise with the Management Production team to ensure staffing is sufficient.
Handover – Ensuring relevant information relating to production issues is sent via email to the relevant departmental heads. Plus ensure appropriate handovers are provided to the day shift team leader with the relevant information.
Ensure all operators are operating their machines in a safe manner (following the SSOW & wearing PPI equipment – ear protection, safety boots, uniform etc.) 
Report, carry out & oversee any necessary operator maintenance. Plus report maintenance breakdowns or electrical issues to the engineering/maintenance dept.
Make decisions about production priorities and product quality. (i.e. Move operatives/Agency staff between machines to ensure production is not compromised due to staffing issues)
Liaise with operators to ensure their machines are running to full capacity and efficiency.
Help to ensure sections are pulled in ready for the next job where necessary.
Hands-on – setting and assisting of the machines where necessary.
Give the final go ahead on quality of copies where required.
Prepare machines for the following shift when possible.
Ensure housekeeping is maintained at all times.

Salary: £37,146
